I'm waiting at the light behind an SUV and I read:
"IF YOU CAN READ THIS YOU WEREN'T ABORTED"
Seen this one before?
I felt like vomiting. Then thought:
"IF YOU CAN READ THIS... YOUR PARENTS HAD S-E-X ! YOU DIDN'T DROWN IN YOUR KIDDIE POOL AT AGE 2, YOU HAD CLEAN DRINKING WATER AND FOOD AS A CHILD, YOU WEREN'T BLOWN-UP IN IRAQ, THE TOXIC FUMES FROM MY SUV HAVEN'T KILLED YOU YET..."
Thanks for letting me vent -

And I enjoy sharing the humor and insight here at DU. That is all.

5. What don't they understand about the word CHOICE? |
|
My Mom chose to have me and ONLY me. I chose to have my two kids and ONLY two kids. They simply don't get it. These people are in for a very rude awakening. They are under the impression that if you have given birth, you cannot possibly be pro choice. I have said this to many a Freeper and they are always shocked over the fact that I AM a mother and pro choice.

Don't you know that Supporting Reproductive Rights is for Sluts, Man-haters, and baby-killers!
On another, very Progressive Forum, I've even been told to, "Go enjoy my abortion," for refusing to support an Anti-Reproductive Rights candidate!
Among many others, I used to have the bumper sticker: "AGAINST ABORTION? THEN DON'T HAVE ONE"
When I became pregnant with my first, my neighbor said, "Oh, we thought you didn't like/want children." So there you go.
By the way, I'm a Hockey Sister and Cousin. The only sport that I really enjoy watching. Very proud of my Brother but my cousins are the only girls in their all male league!

JV Hockey on the boy's team, but she didn't make Varsity. She was one of only two girls (other being the JV goalie) on any of the HS teams. She played D3 Women's College Hockey for 2 years, until she transfered to another college. She now plays in a summer league when her schedule permits.

Think that those who are pro-choice aren't also pro-child. I bet the "Pro-child, Pro-Choice" bumperstickers really get on their last nerve.

"Having an abortion doesn't make you unpregnant, it makes you the mother of a dead baby."
Well, so does a miscarriage and SIDS, and thanks for reminding us of such a painful time in so many of our lives. As if we could be allowed to drive down the street without being brought up short by your harshness, just so YOU could make a political statement geared towards taking away the personal freedoms of others- not your own, since you'll never have to face an unwanted pregnancy, Mister.
Grrrr.........

11. That shit pisses me off. |

I've never been pregnant, but if I saw that, I'd be tempted to walk right up and say "My miscarriage makes me the mother of a dead baby. You're sick." and then walk off.
Probably not the best thing to do, but I'm a little hothead--- I"m Irish, it's in the blood.

13. We have something in common. |
|
I'm also hot headed. I tend to blame it on my Irish blood. Your title sounded like something I would say. Unfortunately, I would probably just walk up to the person and be tempted to cuss the person out instead of saying anything of intelligence. I'm more useful when I'm not in an argument.

I'm Greek, and I get extremely angry when free speech is used to express the desire to silence other free speech. I've had people come up to my friends at lunch and give them Heinz Ketchup packets and call them 'baby killers'.

16. These people are sick in the brain, they also believe that if you |
|
have a baby who is retarded , the reason is either you used drugs or had a botched abortion. They also believe that you wanted to get an abortion, or that you abused your child. I know for a fact because I have had people come up to me and accuse me of those things when they saw me with my daughter who is retarded. For the record there are several ways to have a baby who is born retarded without any of those circumstances and most babies are born retarded without any warning whatsoever. And my daughter was recognized as retarded in the delivery room, so I did not have any chance to abuse her into retardation. But then most of those people who accused me are Texans, so maybe stupidity is catching in that state.

18. a horrible example of the multiplier effect |
|
... of stupidity and evil. They aren't just stupid AND evil; they're stupid TIMES evil.
If your daughter was recognized as "retarded" at the time of delivery, she obviously had a genetic defect (Down syndrome, chromosome 16 disorders ... the only one I can think of that would have to do with the pregnant woman's behaviour is fetal alcohol syndrome).
If you had had prenatal testing and discovered that your fetus had such a genetic defect, you would have had the option of terminating the pregnancy. (I make absolutely no comment on the wisdom of having or not having such testing, or of continuing or terminating the pregnancy.)
So these people are looking at you, and seeing a person who, for all they know, intentionally chose NOT to have an abortion in circumstances in which others would have done so -- chose to have and rear a disabled child, for whatever reason -- and calling you names.
There's just no accounting for the stupidity and evil that can come billowing out of some people's brains/mouths into the public's air and ears.
