I wish Parental Notification Laws were called Parental Permission Laws |
|
because that's what they are. It isn't about notifying a pregnant teen's parents. It's about making the teen get her parents' permission to have an abortion.
I wonder if this would work the other way. If I'd gotten pregnant as a teen, my parents told me that they would make sure I got an abortion no matter what. Do the teen's parents get to make their daughter have an abortion as well?

1. They decided against "Cherish the Unborn Act" j/k |
|
Pre-notification with the option to stop the abortion... double plus bad I'd say. :( Bush's Ministry of Truth re-framed the issue.
Just like no child was left behind to wonder where all the clear skies went.

2. Good observation, and a good framing of the question. |
|
Amazing how many issues can be viewed in a fresh light when the questions are asked in reverse. They're never as simple nor as black-and-white as right-wingers make them out to be.

3. Most clinics will refuse |
|
any person they see being heavily pressured by parents or partners, or at least they used to, telling them to come back again if they can come to an agreement.
Kids will be pressured into getting abortions more often than they'll be pressured out of them. It's a rotten situation, either way, a situation that will haunt such kids for life.
If a kid is old enough for sex, she's definitely old enough to decide for herself what to do about the consequences. I know a lot of parents will disagree with that, but she's already taken ownership of her own body without their permission.
All these laws do is make more work for the amateurs. They'll kill the girls. Literally.

4. Does A Teen Need Her Parents Permission To Give Birth? |
|
A full-term pregnancy and birth is far more dangerous than an early abortion - are teenage girls being counseled about the dangers they face if they decide to go through with their pregnancies? Why the hell not?
Why is abortion different?

It's a disguised attempt to limit abortions.

I was just hoping that someone who thinks parental notification for abortions are such a great thing could explain why it isn't needed for a teen to give birth. They never do answer that one ... gee, wonder why? (Answer: because they're lying scum.)

7. Isn't that EXACTLY what it is in Texas? |
|
Didn't the psychopathic Gov just sign a "parental permission" law requiring just that - actual permission for an abortion?
