2. as a degreed librarian isn't laura supposed to have better answers--and
then, why isn't she giving them to George, or pointing to those books in the reference library where he could get the correct/truer answers.

where is laura's brain?

3. Wow
this is what they are teaching in schools these days? What person in there right mind would teach this to their students. These teachers should know better. Aren't still required to have degree from a four year institution? I went to grade, middle, and high school in North Carolina and we were never taught such lies. They did talk about abstinence as the full prove way to avoid pregnancy and STDs. I feel bad for the youth that are being damaged by this abstinence-only program. They are being taught that condoms cause more harm than good so when they do have pre-marital sex they are doing so unprotected. What is wrong with President Bush and the conservatives? They consistently seem to be doing more harm than good. I cannot wait until 2008.

4. HA!
Feelings of jealousy, embarrassment, depression, and disappointment can be eliminated by...Abstaining from sex until marriage

I can't believe they get away with promoting these outright lies! Like no boy is ever going to get jealous because the girl he likes is dating someone else just because they didn't do it! Like no girl is going to get embarassed because she accidentally farted in front of the entire class just because she's a virgin! As if a forty year old man isn't going to be both disappointed and depressed if he has never gotten laid whether married or not!

What BS!

9. That's how you can tell if someone's a virgin or not
Does she get embarrassed? Does he feel jealous? Is she disappointed? Is he depressed?

They are?????

Oh NO! They're not married, therefore they had

<gasp>

SEX!

No sympathy. None at all. They're not virgins and therefore unworthy.

This is very much akin to some right winger advocating a few years ago to bring back shame to our society, and much of the vitriol was directed against single mothers.

They're heading down the path of dictating to whom we can be allowed to show compassion.

7. Male and Female Sperm
While the phrase itself is misleading, I can see where it comes from, since egg cells can only have an X chromasome, and sperm cells have either an X or Y chromasome.

8. The proper terminology back when sex ed didn't mislead
was X-bearing sperm and Y-bearing sperm. I suppose male and female sperm are shorthand ways to get this across.

10. Ugh.
I feel true sympathy for those of you guys who have children who are in danger of being taught this garbage. If my child ever came home with a book (and I use the term loosely) full of these lies, there'd be a hell of a scene at that school the next day. Wow.
