Okay, I know this is an awful subject, but I have it. I've been running for years, and recently got serious about it. Now I have this foot odor. It smells like mold. What on earth do I do? What have I gotten into that caused this smell?

I'd be willing to bet it's something from your running shoe that is making your foot smell...switch shoes.

Wear your socks only to run, changing into a fresh pair to run and out of them when you're done running. They make running socks that are designed for this purpose, I realize the idea seems silly and I thought so until I started wearing them. Also the segregation between socks you wear to run and socks you wear the rest of the time will help prevent odor and foot-health issues like athlete's foot and nail-fungus.
Only wear your running shoes to run and take them off when you're finished so they can dry out.
Assuming you don't run daily, give them a full day to dry out between runs.
If you're running daily, have two pairs so you can alternate. As an added bonus, both pairs will last much much longer. (The same is true actually of all shoes, but dress shoes and shoes you exercise in more than anything else)
Foot powder is your friend: Don't just powder your feet, powder the shoes but not when they're still moist and not right before you put them on your feet.
Wash and powder your feet after you run. It takes 5 minutes and will solve so many problems. Also it feels really nice.
Those air-freshener balls they make work...but they're bad for your feet.
It's mold BTW or athlete's foot. The issue is sustained moisture. Bleaching your socks will help, so will laundering your running socks more frequently. Don't let them sit all week.
