OK - so they're building 'Farmers Field' in El Lay. They are calling it an 'NFL Stadium' |
|
Who the heck is going to play there?
Last I heard, the Rams went to St Louis, and the Raiders went back to Oakland.
El Lay has, historically, been a bad market for Pro Football, but that's beside the point.
Are they creating an expansion team?
Are they moving either the Raiders or the Rams back?
If they build it, will they come?

1. In keeping with L.A.'s most hallowed sports tradition |
|
They'll steal a team from somewhere else.

2. An expansion team would be problematic |
|
as they have a nice even 32 teams with 8 4-team divisions.
Speculation centers around the Jags, Chargers (who started out in L.A.), Vikes (!) and yes, the Rams and Raiders.

4. L.A.'s ultimate goal is to host the Super Bowl regularly again |

and the league *really* wants a team there...

5. Great. Instead of fixing the 110 or the I-5, they build a useless stadium |
|
The 110 is in desperate need of repair

6. You gots to have your priorities right!! |
|
:sarcasm:
As someone that started out his American life being a Rams fan, I was bitterly disappointed when their showgirl owner left town for the greener pa$ture$ of $aint Loui$, and I couldn't really get into the Raider "mystique" and they went back home anyway...I must admit, not having local market restrictions on which games could get broadcast in the LA market really started to appeal to me as time wore on...
The league may very well desire a football team in El Lay, but I think the fans will be just as 'meh' about this plan as all of the other ones floated since the raiders/rams bolted...

Or they can use it as an evacuation center when the big earthquake hits, because that worked so well in New Orleans.

21. I wish Baltimore would have kept the name and colors. The Clowns are atrocious. |
|
I always thought it was stupid that they fought to keep the name and colors of a franchise that never went to a Superbowl and only knew pain and suffering (post merger). Oddly enough, if Baltimore had kept the name Browns, the Browns' fans would have finally had their championship.

18. Oakland and San Fran play in dumps. |
|
I still say move one of them to LA. Why the Bay area needs two teams in the first place I'll never know. You can keep the divisions in their regular format. Jacksonville would be a possible move, too. The league does not need to expand. 32 teams are enough.

BTW, a Bay Area stadium plan is in the works. Not a shared facility... yet. Unfortunately. I get your two team argument, and as I said in another post, it makes the most sense. I also said I would hate to lose the Raiders.
