My Rays are now tied with the Sox. I just read on my Facebook that the Rays would host a playoff game on Thursday if it ends in a tie. What an incredible comeback (or terrible collapse if you're a Sox fan). This is why I like having the wild card in baseball.

1. The wild card actually hurts the chances of a one game playoff.

If two teams in the same division are tied one usually gets the wild card slot without a one game playoff.

But right now, it looks like the Yankees are going to beat Tampa pretty handily, and the Sox are beating Baltimore. That, of course, would eliminate any reason for a Thursday game.
