Pat Summitt. I've met her twice. First time she shook my hand. Second time a big hug. |

Her parents lived close to one of my old bosses. I ran into her twice. She's very tall (and I'm 6'4") and very warm and quite funny.
There was a HBO special about the Lady Vol's championship season when Holdsclaw was on the team. I have it on a VCR tape somewhere. She was on those girls from day one of practice at 6:00 a.m. and never let up until they cut the nets down. I've watched it a hundred times and it always brought me happiness. She's tough as nails but she has a big heart.
All she asks is that you bring it. Every single day. Just like she will.
Good luck, Pat.
(sorry, this was a reply to the Pat Summitt thread and somehow it wound up as a post of it's own. So be it.)

1. I like her. When started the piece on her I thought there was going to be scandal |
|
Thankfully there wasn't. Wouldn't want her career dirtied.
With some luck she will be okay.

Sometimes even when I screw up, I do things right. If I made you smile, I did OK.
First time I met Pat, my boss introduced me to her and she asked me "How you like working for Frank?" And I replied quickly "He's tough". She smiled and said to me "You'd last about three minutes in one of my practices"
I believed her too.

help people suffering from Dementia will always get a rec from me.
Maybe Ms. Summitt will be able to bring a bit more attention to a very debilitating disease.
Note: My mother died from the disease last year. We noticed changes in her behavior 10 years before she died, but it took seven years for a real diagnosis.
