Giants pitchers now know how their predecessors felt in that memorable season of '02.
That would be 1902. Not the World Series season of 2002.
Monday was another day of minimum production for the Giants' offense, with Pablo Sandoval collecting three of the team's four hits through eight innings. The Giants "broke out" in the ninth with two more hits but fell 5-3 to the Padres at China Basin.
For the first time since 1902, the Giants have failed to score more than six runs in 38 straight home games (their entire 2011 home schedule to date). Those '02 Giants, the only other outfit with a streak like that in franchise history, finished 53 1/2 games out of first place.Read more:

The Giants are currently 27th in runs scored, 25th in BA, and 23rd in team OBP..According to baseball's Pythagorean theorem, the 10 games over .500 first place Giants should be only 44-42 and are heading for an 86-87 win season.
Thankfully, they're in what looks to be a weak NL West this year...
