NBA Owners Lock Out Players
NBA owners informed players that they will be locked out beginning at midnight Thursday, CBSSports.com reported.

According to the report, the NBA Players Association has no plans to decertify its union and will continue to negotiate. The sides remain far apart on many issues.

Representatives from both sides met Thursday at a hotel in Dallas that had increased security and NBA media relations employees present, indicating a significant announcement. The union made another proposal that owners rejected, the report said.

"I've been anticipating this lockout for the last two or three years, and now it's here," union executive director Billy Hunter said....

2. I'd agree
but Arizona State is usually awful and the usual teams will end up winning the whole thing.

I want to see the Suns!!

I thought they played well after falling 15-21 on the season. It could have been a lot worse. I thought they could have won more games last couple of weeks but Steve Nash was given a regular day off, they moved Channing Frye and Jared Dudley in the starting lineup who are good players but narrowed their depth(they had one of the best benches in the league). Also Frye dislocated his shoulder in March when they were 4 games over .500.

Anyways I'm making excuses. I'm looking forward to a possible season and also Morris who will have a learning curve but Steve Nash is a friend to big men.

7. I wasn't paying as close attention...I knew they were in it for a playoff
spot for quite some time then they just seemed to fall apart.

I heard a rumor they were looking at trading Steve Nash...any truth to that?

8. All the rumors
are from national sports coverage, newspapers, etc. Every single local story has the ownership saying they are not trading Nash and Nash has said many times he wants to stay here.

I remember there were rumors before the trade deadline that they may trade Nash but the ownership said the problems the Suns have they were going to solve with Nash rather than without Nash--so they ended up trading Goran Dragic for Aaron Brooks who won the MIP for the 2009-10 season but regressed to the mean this past season.

9. It seems to me that Nash has a good relationship with the owners and managment
and in many respects he's the face of the franchise.

4. "NBA players make a median annual salary of $5.8 million, highest in all sports."
"Owners are looking for a 33 percent reduction in player salaries, which were $2.2 billion this season.

The discord runs deeper, as the sides are said to be $7 billion apart over a 10-year span. Players want a five-year deal and have been adamant about the inclusion of a "soft" salary cap. Owners want a 10-year deal with a "flex" cap similar to the NHL, which NBA players view as a "hard" cap.

Owners also want players to relinquish $180 million in escrow funds withheld from their paychecks last season..."

Good friggin' luck :eyes:

I'm not a hockey hater. I'm a pacifist who hates violence.

12. When was the last time Canada invaded another country?
Think about it. A few gloves coming off on the ice --> a lot less bombs dropped off it.

Iraq & Afghanistan. They did send troops. Admittedly their involvement was/is small(larger in Afghanistan) and the US led the way.

16. Umm what happened in Vancouver?
Sorry but the meme that Canada is entirely made up of pacifists is wrong. Plenty of assholes up there on and off the ice
