So on a hot streak. Playing some great ball. As good as anyone. Beat a great pitcher Pineda, 1-0 in bottom of ninth in DC to sweep the Mariners. How do we top that? Nationals manager Jim Riggleman resigns because his contract hasn't been extended. Basically he pitched a fit and now has abandoned a young team just starting to finally come together. There are no curse words bad enough to describe Riggleman's dick move IMO. :nuke:

2. That's really sad for the Nats, and dumb by Riggleman. |
|
Does he think he'll get another job after this stunt?

3. There is already speculation that Florida might hire him. |
|
All I have to say, he'd better leave town, fast , he's quickly going to become the most hated man in DC, and considering the politicos areound here thats saying something.

but I felt the urge to point out Pineda wasn't the pitcher of record when the Nationals hit that sacrifice fly so they didn't "beat" him. He was out after 7 with about 11 K/9 and 0 earned runs.

I thought Riggleman earned an extension of his contract---he decided to play hardball.

about an extension. He did not demand an extension or else.

9. I can understand quitting |

At the end of the year if unhappy. But this is a selfish petty move that undermines everything he said about caring about the team

12. I see it one of two ways. |
|
If he gets hired by another team, then his side of the story is probably true. If nobody wants him, then Rizzo's story is true. If I was a GM, I wouldn't take a chance on him until I knew the truth, because it was a dick move either way. He abandoned his players.

13. It is sad. I love this team, and DC deserves baseball |
|
And good baseball at that! I was so geeked when DC was awarded a franchise. It's time to change the atmosphere in DC and have good baseball. And good ball is being played, and what happens, the skipper throws a tantrum and leaves. That is a damned shame!

I posted this comment on twitter. So Jim Riggleman is too old to be disrespected by Mike Rizzo. But not too old to go out to Bethesda and act like a creepy drunk dude.
