Country of origin: Japan
Year: 1998
Genre: Drama
Story: Goda goes on a quest to find a pistol (firearms are mostly illegal in Japan) after his girlfriend shoots herself. During Goda's quest, he meets a young woman who's life he once saved, named Chisato . Chisato resents Goda for saving her life, so she makes him a target of her gang.
Acting: Good.
Humor: No intentional humor.
Violence: There is some fighting and a little gun violence, but since
Bullet Ballet is in black and white, the fighting does not seem as bloody as it would if the movie was in color.
Sex: There is a brief sex scene, but no nudity.
Overall: Excellent movie by Shinya Tsukamoto. I was expecting a tough guy shoot 'em up, but it's not. I highly suggest
Bullet Ballet to anyone who is fan of nontraditional films.
