Any Walking Dead fans in here? |
|
I just finished the season finale and am completely hooked.
Have always been a fan of Apocalyptic/ End of the world films but never really into the Horror genre with the exception of 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead.
This new series is based on a comic book that's been around since 2003. Keep wondering if the author was influenced by the Bush years and the feeling of doom that prevailed.
Anyway, great characters, plot, visual effects and wondering about the different scenarios and what you would do to survive in near hopeless times.

1. was that the season finale the other night? |
|
it was a good place to stop. Will it resume in March or are we looking at next fall?
My buddy's read the comics and he says it gets pretty dark.

3. I've heard it's coming back next fall - which is a LONG wait. |
|
OTOH, before they found out it was a hit they were promoting it as a "6 part mini-series". They didn't start suggesting it might go beyond the first six episodes until after the third one aired.

4. I've heard enough about the comics that I'm |
|
ordering the compiled book versions when I have the extra money. Supposedly some of the characters and scenes are like you said, pretty dark so AMC can't get away with producing those scenes.
Won't be back on the air until Oct.
Something about everything going on in the world makes this series relevant. I just never thought of myself as someone that would get into zombie films.
So, you think Merle's going to show up next season? Should make for one great episode.

I caught up with the show kind of late, but I'm loving what I've seen so far. I like the whole post-apocalyptic thing, too.

8. I have some issues with it, but it's still the best thing on tv. |
|
I'm a sucker for anything that has Greg Nicotero's name attached to it.

9. Its a pretty average show. Nothing really new or exciting. |
|
The opening episode with Rick waking up in the hospital bed was pretty much the same as 28 days later. If you want to watch a good zombie flick just watch 28 days later, It is much much much better.

It's better just on originality, "the walking dead" totally stole the hospital scene from 28 days later.
When i watch the Walking Dead, i just can't help feel how cheesy it really is. The animation in the last episode with the explosion was just plain awful. The character development is bad, they die off before you feel any real attachment to their role. I just feel like its another zombie show, nothing new or exciting. 28 days later brought something new to the table in the zombie film genre. The rioting, the rage virus, the gritty feel of Digital flim, the great backdrop of london and england and the underlying theme of questions of humanity and when worse comes to worse humans do sick and disgusting things(the soldiers and the girls).
Overall I just think 28 days later is clearly better.

Good first hour, lame ass last 30 minutes. And don't get even get me going on the sequel.
I do give 28 Days Later some credit for breathing some life into the zombie genre (so to speak), but it wasn't that great to me either.

Didn't think much of it, though I caught the middle part of I believe the second episode. Will have to give it another try. Do you happen to know the name of the comic book series you are referring to?

Great show. Just hate so long for it to start again. For others here, 28 Days Later was just lame crap. Thanks. quickesst
