Live Action Movie Review - Gut Pile |
|
Country of origin: USA
Year: 1997
Genre: Horror
Story: A hunter accidental shoots a guy and buries him in the forest. The hunter returns to the forest with two of his hunting buddies one year latter and the three are tormented by the victim's spirit.
Acting: Not good.
Humor: A few funny scenes.
Violence: A little.
Sex: No.
Overall: Gut Pile is super low budget. The movie looked like a college project. Many of the scenes were extremely similar to Evil Dead in that the monster was the camera man. Lots of scenes looking into the cabin with a filter on the lens so you know the monster is watching them. Crappy movie, but at least it is short; Gut Pile is a little less than one hour long. Watch an Evil Dead movie instead.

1. Hunters as villains is so common in movies and on T.V., it's gotten hack. |

I believe psychologist and actor James Swan has made a list of movies and T.V. shows which cast hunters as villains. It is staggering. My own observation is that CBS and its T.V. shows may be the worst offenders, even when the plot is not centered on hunting; IOW, anytime a swipe at hunting can be made, then make it.

2. I have not seen the hunter as villain very often, but I mostly watch horror and cartoons. |

The Bambi Syndrome has gone Zombie!
The hunting accident victim returns in the form of a scarecrow, as opposed to zombie.
