Jean Baudrillard's "Simulacra and Simulation" |
|
I just started reading it this weekend. I must say it's one of the more difficult philosophical works I've read, so I want to see if there's anyone else who has read it and might have some insights they would like to discuss.
The part which puzzles me most at this point (in the first chapter) is his discussion of Watergate. I understand his point about using simulated scandal as a means to reinforce law, etc., but my mind asks is there any such thing as "real" scandal, or is it all simulated?
Thanks.
