Nothing significant to find about it either. If they did use the attack on the Pentagon to cover something up, the cover up part worked extremely well.

Independem is pretty new to DU.
Hi Inde ... welcome. ;-)
There are a few threads here that cover this topic and I could be wrong, but I think most of the talk about the pentagon missing money is buried in threads about other subjects. That happens.

I fucking give up. If you seriously want to believe that Rumsfeld was announcing that $2.3 T was "missing", maybe you might want to look up the federal budget for FY 2001 and ask yourself how the Pentagon could possibly be "missing" an amount larger than the ENTIRE federal budget for EVERYTHING, then explain how the federal government would even operate with zero money.
Do you guys think about these stupid things before you blurt them out?

You're twisting and distorting what Rumsfeld actually said. Saying "we cannot track $2.3 T in transactions" is all about antiquated and incompatible accounting systems, not an admission that $2.3 T is "missing", unless you can explain how the government could even operate if more than the entire operating budget for the entire U.S government for that FY was "missing".
Fucking unbelievable.

Do you understand that "we cannot track $2.3T in transactions" is NOT saying "$2.3T is missing"?
What is so fucking hard to understand about that? Does it register with you why $2.3T could not possibly have been "missing"? How could they have paid all the civilian and military employees of the DoD? Do you understand that if $2.3T was missing, the government would have had to completely shut down?

What I essentially asked was why, if the $2.3T was really "missing", why would he have announced it?? What I have consistently said was you guys are distorting his plain words that "$2.3T in transactions could not be tracked". Any rational person with moderate math skills and a basic knowledge of the federal budget would quickly understand that $2.3T could not possibly be "missing" and our government even remotely finctioning, despite the efforts of.you and others to totally.misrepresent what he said.
I have not.once accused or implied he lied, dude. How fucking hard can this be to understand?

41. WHERE in the world did I... |
|
claim that, dude? Please point to where I "did" and explain your "reasoning". Take your time.
In the meantime, what Rumsfeld actually said is that "$2.3T in transactions cannot be tracked". Somehow, you guys interpret that to mean that he said "$2.3T is missing", despite the fact that is not what he said. Then you have the audacity to turn around, despite this being explained to you over and over, and accuse me of claiming that Rumsfeld lied or would lie, when I said nothing of the sort.
Try to get this through your brain. I have never once claimed that he didn't say "we cannot track $2.3T in transactions" or that he lied when he said it. I have repeatedly stated that "we cannot track $2.3T in transactions" isn't saying "$2.3T is missing" and Rumsfeld never once said that.
At this point, if you would carryout your threat to put me on "ignore", I would regard it as nothing less than a "mercy ignore" that is long overdue.

I think when people make stupid claims, they should educate themselves.
Simple question: do you honestly believe if $2.3T was missing, it would've garnered do little attention?
P.S. it's more than s little ironic that you accuse me of putting words in anyone's mouth, when the O.P. does precisely that to Rumsfeld. Simple question: do you understand why the claim couldn't possibly be true?

keep flogging this "$2.3T is missing" myth. It's colossally stupid.
I honestly believe their cognitive deficiencies and difficulties with shorthand abstractions is the foundation for nearly all of the "unanswered questions" about 9/11. When shown evidence that would make rational people say, "hmmm, maybe I've got this wrong", it, instead, actually hardens their conviction they are right. It's beyond frustrating to watch facts, logic, reason and science bounce off them, like bullets off Superman's chest.
It's truly embarrassing to DU.

Rumsfeld said they were unable to account for the 2.3 trillion dollars (in transactions).
And you say the 2.3 trillion dollars never existed.
I guess that's possible, but for both of these statements to be true, there's only one road open ahead.
So perhaps you are alluding to the fact that the Secretary of Defense is not in charge of day to day pentagon transactions and may not have even known the true financial status, or at least plausible deniability exists to make that claim. And are you perhaps alluding to the fact that the comptroller and chief financial officer of the pentagon is the person who is authorized to sign off on daily financial transactions? And are you further suggesting that the comptroller may have been kiting checks all over hell and half of .. well, probably somewhere besides Texas, over and above the budgeted funding to the tune of 2.3 trillion dollars before anyone caught on to it? At least that would account for your claim that the money never existed. And Rumsfeld ended up taking the heat for it? Are you saying the sec of defense was just covering for his good buddy down the hall, and if so, why would he do that?
And yes again, it would be pretty damned simple for a careful man to see to it that all records that could prove HOW the "funds" had been "misdirected" were destroyed, so it wouldn't be a lie at all for Rum Dum to say he couldn't account for any it. Apparently no one asked Zakheim to account for anything ... he just made a run for Booz Allen. Free and clear.
Is that how it went down?
