If all American troops were combat ready, why were only 4 fighters launched? Because only those 4 fighters were combat ready.
Too, if they were all combat ready then why didn't they do combat that day? Because they weren't ready to do combat.
Why weren't they ready to do combat that day? Because they never imagined they'd have to do combat against hijacked airplanes. In other words they weren't ready for that. I bet they are now.

7. What is this, 2001 redux? |

You know damn well there were more than 4 fighters launched on that day, yet you continue to espout this nonsense and then feigning shock and horror.
It's been dealt with time and time and time and time and time and time and time again.

Should be easy for you to do.
"It's been dealt with time and time and time and time and time and time and time again"
And..... I want to thank you for kicking this old thread. Good to see it again. You did bring it back, right?

The best info I recall is 2 from the NE base and 2 from around DC base. As per the 9/11 cOmmission report.
Funny how KD dredged this up, eh?

11. I believe that was the "final" explanation.... |

Yes, if only 4 planes were sent up during the attack it's strange we are here discussing what you made clear in the first post.....

They like to launch on us at the first sign of a good question.
Too bad bushco didn't show the same resolve and fortitude. Instead they let it happen while their leader sat there reading a book.

It has a tendency to kick up old threads, and given the time of day I didn't really look close on the date posted.
And you forgot about 177th FW sending up F16's.

From where did they launch, ready to do combat? At what time?
Adbot kicks up old threads? You mean like a computer glitch? Or a programmer error?

And I meant 119th Fighter Squadron (part of 177th FW) operating out of Atlantic City. IIRC Colin Scoggins suggested that they might have some F16's doing a training run on the morning of 9/11, and that they could be redirected to try and intercept AA11/UAL175. That suggestion was turned down, probably since they would have been unarmed. They did launch armed F16's sometime after the towers had been hit, but of course by then they were of no use.
And I guess this tangent boils down to what the difference between combat ready and alert status is.
ETA: In any case, I've alerted my original post as it wasn't my intention to "necro" a 2 year old thread. I don't know if DU will leave it up or not though.

You actually believe that since the F16's were not armed they didn't want to send them to intercept an American airliner in American airspace?
That is simply fucking incredible!!
To believe that which you wrote, you would have to believe that there was a grave danger in just intercepting and flying alongside an airliner.
There has been mutterings and accusations of BS here, but, if true, yours takes the cake.
