Palestinian security officials say armed clashes between rival factions in Lebanon's largest refugee camp have killed one person and wounded two others.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the shootout in the Ein el-Hilweh camp near the southern city of Sidon, where gunfights are common between armed groups jockeying for power.

Saturday's confrontation involved Palestinian Islamist militants and gunmen from the mainstream Fatah faction. The officials say one gunman was killed and at least two people were wounded.
