SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police are looking for a suspect who shot and wounded a city employee in a road rage incident.

Police say the driver of a Department of Parking and Traffic painting truck was shot in the shoulder after making a U-turn on a street in the city's Bayview District around 8:35 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say just before he started shooting, the gunman had stepped out of his car and started cursing at the driver. He fired multiple times, hitting the city worker once.

The worker was treated at a hospital and released.

3. It's getting bad

I hate speaking ill of the City, but there are growing incidents of road rage among drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians. I know of cases of:

-Angry pedestrians kicking cars.
-Drivers running down cyclists
-Cyclists throwing their bikes at cars.

A couple weeks ago, my son and I were crossing North on Sutter when a black Mercedes turned without looking and nearly hit us (Sutter is a one-way street so drivers often make fast turns). got annoyed and said "we have the light, asshole". And finish crossing. The driver talks to me the entire time, not looking at the street and nearly hit a parked car. I was so hoping he would at least lose a headlight.

Anybody with that kind of violent temper has almost certainly already gotten into trouble with the law. But based on a criminal jpak wants to restrict legal gun ownership.

the normal honest citizen is not a serious problem and those who are licensed to carry a concealed firearm are even less of a problem.

much crystal ball as it is being the law of probability. Chances are he has been arrested and or convicted of assault at least once.

The shooter was not in legal possession of a firearm. In California, when transporting a firearm in a vehicle, it must be unloaded and in a locked container. The shooter obviously did not abide by these laws, and thus was already a law-breaker before ever firing a shot.

Unless it was Sean Penn who did the shooting. But how could he? He lost both of the guns on his permit.
