LONGMONT — A bomb scare closed the Longmont Public Library on Thursday afternoon, temporarily forcing the evacuation of about 60 patrons and staff and a partial evacuation of next-door city hall.
The buildings were fully reopened at about 2:45 p.m. after Boulder County Bomb Squad members used their remote-controlled robot to remove a “suspicious” package from the library and shake it open.
The tan cardboard box, wrapped with white paper and rubber bands, contained folded plastic grocery bags.
“Better safe than sorry,” said Longmont Police Sgt. Jeff Satur, a bomb squad member.
