HOBOKEN - A test meter left behind by a utility worker caused a stir at Wallace School Tuesday, police said.
A security guard at the school on Willow Avenue flagged down two Port Authority motorcycle cops at about 11:17 a.m., telling them there was a suspicious package on the curb near the north end of the school, Hoboken Police said.
The guard showed the cops a small plastic case that looked like a piece of luggage, reports said. Police moved the students to the other end of school and closed off surrounding streets. A sniffer dog, Riko, and his handler determined the package was not a threat, police said.
The object appeared to be a portable gas detector left behind by a worker, police said.
