LONG BEACH, Calif. The all-clear has been given at Long Beach City Hall after a man set himself on fire and a suspicious package was discovered.
Police say the 50-year-old man walked into the building around 4 p-m and set his clothes on fire. A security guard doused the flames with a fire extinguisher.
Authorities say a suspicious package was found in the midst of the chaos and the building was evacuated.
A Los Angeles County sheriff's bomb squad was called and determined the package was harmless. The contents are not known.
Police say the man suffered burns over 20 percent of his body and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The security guard suffered minor injuries to his hand.
