MADRID, Spain -- A former Guantanamo prisoner suspected of links to al-Qaida
has been released pending trial, Spain's National Court said Friday.
Moroccan-born Lahcen Ikassrien has been ordered to report daily to police and
is prohibited from leaving the country without permission, the court said
in a statement. He is expected to stand trial in September.
Ikassrien was arrested and taken to Guantanamo after the Sept. 11, 2001,
terrorist attacks and was transferred to Spain last year.
