Discovery of 8,000-Year-Old Artifacts and Fossils in Lake Whitney

Months of drought conditions in Texas have lowered the water level at Lake Whitney and uncovered caverns that contain Native American fossils and tools from prehistoric times, according to Wfaa.com.
The caverns have not been exposed in nearly 20 years.
Authorities patrolling Lake Whitney have arrested 30 people who have removed the artifacts or fossils.
Federal and Texas laws ban the removal of Native American artifacts from archaeological sites, WFAA Texas reports.
Those arrested face fines of thousands of dollars and probation for the crimes.
Sites that have been disturbed can cost as much as $30,000 to be repaired.

Lake Whitney is a man made flood control lake, so who thought that flooding these prehistoric Native American sites was a good idea in the 1st place?

is tentative at best. Any Indian tribe could have come through there 8,000 years ago.
