Anyone to the right of McCain or Lugar should be considered ... |
|
...treasonous, dangerous, a threat to our freedom, probably a radical religious fundamentalist, and generally not someone to turn your back on. And if they make any sudden moves, make it so they won't move again.

1. McCain's voting record is abominable. |
|
While he looks pretty good next to Dubya, he is still one of those sun-fried desert ultra-conservatives. Likable but lunatic.
Lugar is sort of a funeral home director. Nattily dressed, reassuring Dr. Wellby aspect. He comes alive once in a while to challenge Reagan on Marcos or South Africa, but generally he is sofa stuffing on domestic issues.

3. I wasn't praising McCain or Lugar. Just using them as "landmarks". |

-- and thanks for the post. I understand what you meant -- I just sort of like to take a poke at GOP stalwarts.
All good wishes to you.

His voting record is conservative-to-very-conservative. While I do like him as a person, as a combat veteran, and as a dad and husband, etc., I just can't get behind an essentially Reaganesque platform. His intelligence and humor make him more likable, but he is just too far right for me.
His Senate web site can give you his positions.

6. I have to agree with this |
|
and as much as I admire McCain, I am no more inclined to agree with his stances on issues now than i was when he was running for president. If I ever drift from this opinion, all I have to do is rememeber how much he abjectly shores up the Chimp.
