Favorite Pet Cause of the Religious Right
If you guessed Roy Moore, you've won a nickel! :) Yep. He's baaaaack and they are ranting again. The following are excerpts and my comments are in between paragraphs:

"Supreme Court Closed Door On Judge Moore,
But God Will Open Another One!

By Chuck Baldwin

Yesterday's decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to not hear Alabama
Chief Justice Roy Moore's Ten Commandments case paves the way for the
total removal of America's public recognition of God. Furthermore, it
is yet another nail in the coffin of religious liberty and
constitutional governance in the United States."

<snip>

"Piece by piece, all vestiges of America's Christian heritage are
being dismantled and destroyed. This is not accidental; it is
deliberate. The movers and shakers of this conspiracy have captured
the leadership of both major parties, most of the institutions of
higher learning, most of the major media, most of the entertainment
moguls, and a sizable percentage of our seminaries and churches."

Here we go again. BLAME BLAME BLAME! :) Damn secularists! I really like the conspiracy-theory tone of it.

"The result of this not-so-silent takeover of the American culture by
these purveyors of secularism is that brave and uncompromising
patriots such as Judge Roy Moore are attacked from every conceivable
source...The public hanging will be complete on November 12 when
Chief Justice Roy Moore will, in all likelihood, be officially
removed from the bench by the judiciary's ignoble inquisitors."

Jay Zeus! Just listen to the hysterical rhetoric. They are making this guy out to be some kind of martyr.

"The bright side of all this gloominess is that, like Daniel of old,
no matter how much treachery is brought against Roy Moore, God is
still with him! The greater the attacks become, the stronger he
becomes! Beyond that, the door that God allows to be closed to Roy
Moore today will only serve to open an even larger and more
influential door tomorrow. - Chuck Baldwin Live

Yep. Like all fundie messages, it must end in some pat-pat and self-reassurance. :)

1. Wait a sec..
"The movers and shakers of this conspiracy have captured
the leadership of both major parties..

Is this an implication that the Chimp is also one of those "movers and shakers?"

Maybe we can play-up this wedge and succeed in gettinga few % of the fundies to stay at home on Election Day..

Hmmm..

3. These people are idiots
And that's from an Alabamian. (Is that a word!? lol)

Most of the people I talk to think Moore is wrong for trying to go against the court. They may agree with him, but think despite what they want, the court is the final voice. He isn't scoring any points here.

4. I think this happy horse-hockey is just to rouse the faithful...
and put money in the coffers of the right-wing organizations, and the Fundie Churches.

Roy Moore knew what was going to happen all the way down the line. He set the whole thing up to play out a certain way.

I go crazy (as a law student) trying to explain that a person may initiate prayer, but the government just cannot sponsor it. And that the Founding Fathers intended it that way.

Oh, well. What a show production.

5. what I want to know is, since when is religious freedom
equated with putting a religious shrine in a public place.

this is absolutely the lamest defense I've heard so far-- that since this country was founded on religious freedom, that removing that shrine was a violation of it-- and it's been basically the main argument against moving it.

6. In America, we are guaranteed the RIGHT to worship ...
...as we please. That's where it ends. Period. We have a secular government, by design; by LAW. And this Nations' government shall remain that way. Period.
I have nothing, I said nothing, against anyones' choice of how or when or whom to worship. These folks who want to force Christianity or any other cult into our government are very misdirected.
Why can't they be happy to have the freedoms they possess, and leave it at that?
This whole concept of "Gods' chosen people" has gone to their heads and made them power mad, and it's caused a very bad case of inflated ego.
