8. More fun stuff about the "artist" |
|
LoBaido, 38, was arrested in 1999 after throwing horse manure at the exterior of the Brooklyn Museum of Art to protest its display of a painting of the Virgin Mary festooned with elephant dung.
"I'm expressing myself creatively," he said as police led him away that day.
Last year, LoBaido was arrested for hanging a large American flag on an awning outside the French Consulate as a sign of protest for what he considered France's contempt for the U.S.-led war in Iraq. He is on one-year probation.
Just another wild and crazy repuke!

11. I hate to put an emphasis on "art criticism as psychology" |
|
but perhaps there's something "subliminable" about this painting. Note, for example, how Bin laden still has the turban on his severed head--that thing's on pretty tight. Perhaps he's trying to say, "this isn't just the decapitation of an evildoer--but of a whole culture of violence". Or maybe that's just so you can tell who it's supposed to be. Note also how the proud steed looks *away* as if looking into the past. Or maybe he just wants the dumb, fake cowboy *off* of him. And notice how the black costume resembles the robes of a Supreme Court justice...well, maybe there's nothing there. The horse, the dramatic sky, the standard of the flag, all very symbolically show this in fantastical terms, as in "Bush personally going to battle...what a fantasy!"
Of course, it's also possible that the artist is a messed-up freeptard...
