At one point in Mary Shelley’s novel
Frankenstein the reader senses the confusion of who exactly is the monster of the tale. The initial impression is that the ugly yellow-skinned anti-social eight-foot beast is the monster. But, well before the end of the book, one learns of Dr. Frankenstein’s monstrous nature.
The same can be said of the monster known as Dick Cheney and his creator the mad George W. Bush. These days all eyes are on Frankencheney, wondering if he can be stopped and how. Eventually we must all face the reality of the complicity of the evil Dr. Bush who pieced this creature together with sundry parts from lobbyists and energy executives.
Pity the beast but burn the beast’s creator.
