I've just been reading reviews of Bush On the Couch. Has anyone read it? I haven't, but I think that after reading some of the reviews on Amazon, I will.
I've always thought that there was something wrong with Duh-bya. I'm not just saying that from the standpoint of being a liberal Democrat opposing a Republican President. The facial tics. The disconnect between his words (Compassionate Conservative, etc) and actions.
According to the author, our "President" is a dry drunk - a man who's stopped drinking but hasn't addressed the issues that caused the drinking. He's channeled the extremism about drinking into other activities - his faith, exercise, etc.
It may be that George W. Bush is mentally unfit to lead this country. Fellow Americans may have put a megalomaniac, self-deluded, sadistic man into office another four years. What have we gotten ourselves into?
The author himself said that it is in our best interests to get Duh-bya out of power as soon as possible. This is scary stuff. Ringo (D-VA)

regardless of what people think, psychological evaluation isn't just "look at what they do, and then you know."
Could you make some VERY general inferences? Yeah, but nothing as specific as what's in the book. Especially when we can only see what happens in shrub's public life, and not his private life
Still, an interesting read

5. I'm reading it now. It's very enlightening. |

The MD who wrote it is a clinical psycholgist, and he doesn't directly analyze Shrub, but gives examples of Shrub's background, and what things like that usually cause. I recommend you read it if you get the chance.

The chapter entitled 'The Smirk' really shows what we are dealing with.
He's mentally ill....and has gotten away with it for his entire life cuz he's got $...well his family does. The family is sick, too.
I highly recommend you read it...I just returned it to the library today.

Yeah, I think he is mentally ill.
I remember reading an article a year or two ago. The article said that Duh-bya was dangerously paranoid and unstable. I thought it was alarming but was sort of dismissive.
I'm definitely going to get this book. Ringo

15. RE BUSH: I don't think any of you have actually got it!! |
|
I think yr all ingenuous. Not got the overiew, the overview is just toooooo ugly!
He is EVIL. His family is EVIL! They/you ARE "The Evil Empire"......! Got it? It's called APATHY.
Why hasn't this mass murderer been impeached? Why are you all still sitting on yr silly arses & letting him/them murder at will? Not enough of you (what is is it now, 330,000.000?)to take down a bunch of pshycho's? Are YOU all crazy? Have YOU all lost the plot?
We shake our heads here believe me. We watch & wonder when do you turn off the sit-coms. When do you really get the whole pic? YR SCARING US.................YR SCARING THE WORLD & who can blame the no-have's, the Arabs, the Mexicans, S.Americans en mass, Europe, for wanting to see you lot bloody well WAKE UP!! This is yr wake-up call............ Are you hearing it?
Good..........OR..........Evil? Where do you sit?

16. Why is anyone surprised? |
|
People elected Bush knowing he had been a drunk and probably a crack head as well. The reason he never took his flight physical when he was in the Texas air national guard was probably because they'd initiated drug testing. His entire business career involved trading on his family name and serving as front man for a bunch of shady oil businesses. He was suspected of insider trading but blamed the failure to report the sales on his lawyer. Since his father was President at the time the SEC never put him under oath. Both of his brothers were up to their eyeballs in the savings and loan scandal, which suggests shady business practices probably run in the family. The thing that amazes me the most is people voted for Bush because they thought he best represented their values. What a terrible joke. There's absolutely nothing in that man's past to admire.

20. Not the first book like this |
|
Has anyone read Fortunate Son by J H Hatfield? This book also paints a pretty disturbing picture of the Baby Bush and his family. It pissed the "Bush Battalions" (as Greg Palast refers to them in the forward) off so much that they pressured St. Martin's Press to withdraw the book and Jim Hatfield eventually killed himself. Soft Skull published it in 2002 and its a great read.

This is very frightening, indeed. It sounds like a must read for all of us. And I'm a long-time fan of Greg Palast, who's also done a lot of work on this, most notably in "Bush Family Fortunes." Thanks for the reminder...:-)
And welcome to DU, Maud! We're so glad to have you with us!:toast:
