Opinion section of news.yahoo.com - 2 right-wing, 1 left-wing, 1 center-right
It used to be that the Opinion section of the http://news.yahoo.com was somewhat balanced --

1. Real Clear Politics - Right wing
2. Weekly Standard - Right wing
3. Christian Science Monitor - Center Right
4. Huffington Post - Left wing
5. The Nation - Left wing

(Left and Right are relative terms).

Anyway, since about May 3, The Nation has stopped updating its opinion feed to news.yahoo.com, and now nothing is shown. So the Huffington Post is the only one that is presenting any left-wing views.

I have written to The Nation (letters@thenation.com) a couple times in the past when they've dropped their feed, and recently (May 24). I've gotten nice personal-sounding responses back -- and eventually the feed continued, except this last time I've gotten a nice response back but still no feed..

I believe strongly that the reason we lefties get slaughtered in elections (except when like in 2006 and 2008 right-wing regimes have screwed up things so much that its obvious even to the typical dumbass that something needs to change) is that (collectively on average, compared to the righties) we do such a poor job getting our message out, and spend so little effort trying. As a result, go to any white working class bar or gathering and all you here is that the financial crisis happened because the banks were forced to lend money to low-lifers; the oil spill happened because government regulations forced drillers to drill in deep water, etc. etc.

I hope some people here will take the time to drop a note to letters@thenation.com and implore them to get their feed to the opinion section of news.yahoo.com going again.

Thank you,
Progree

1. Center left
To get real left wing, you need to go here: http://www.wsws.org/ -- Best news on the 'net!

2. Also, please ask Yahoo News to resume feed, or replace it
Previously I've written that I've asked The Nation (letters@thenation.com) to get their feed going again, and I think the problem is from their end. But since nothing has been happening (I bugged them May 24), I decided to contact Yahoo News. At the very bottom of news.yahoo.com page there is a "feedback" link which brings up a Suggestions page which says its for technical website issues, not editorial content. So I framed my complaint as a technical issue:

/#######################################################
Title: news.yahoo.com Opinion section - missing The Nation's feed

In news.yahoo.com's Opinion section, the The Nation's feed stopped updating around May 3. Please resume this feed or find a replacement feed for it from the progressive / liberal side. As right now the only Opinion feeds are two right-wing (Real Clear Politics and Weekly Standard) and one center-right (Christian Science Monitor) and only one left-wing (Huffington Post).
\########################################################

Anyway, we can sit here in our isolated little politically homogenous communities of the kind that maybe only 5% of voters ever seek out or read, and ignore what the vast majority of online newsreaders see. Or we can try to influence that too. I think Yahoo News has been trying to be balanced in their Opinion section (I've been monitoring them for years) but they need to hear from us to keep up the effort and to do something about the current problem. And The Nation needs to hear from more of us as well. Otherwise, we have nobody but ourselves to blame when people believe that government forcing banks to lend to poor people caused the housing bubble / financial crash. Or that excess government regulations caused the BP oil "spill".
