In September 2002, Richard Humphreys was convicted of making a joke |
|
about a "burning bush" in 2001 ... the jury found him guilty of threatening to kill or harm the president. (Uh, first amendment is still the law ... I thought)
In 2009, people are showing up with unconcealed weapons, especially when the President is going to be there (not surprisingly, those showing up with guns are almost exclusively angry white men ...).
Media reaction? "Well, it's their (2nd amendment) right ..."
It's a sweeps month, people ... just remember the ratings that Michael Jackson's death brought ...

1. I just wonder what the media will do when someone shoots one of these guns |
|
at an event.
After all the killing we have had by "armed intruders" one would think there would be some fear both from the law enforcement and the media concerning these gun bearing morons.

2. well if it was still 2001 no doubt the militia would have |
|
taken it upon themselves to lynch, draw, quarter and set fire to the remains of Richard Humphreys.
At least now we reserve the extremes of our ire for the REAL EVIL in this world: democrats who don't worship the ground Obama walks on.
:eyes:
But I agree - the media also helped send us to war in Iraq - at 70B per year, over a trillion dollars with NO discernible benefit to America and a lot of dead and blown up soldiers, and yet we're BITCHING about the cost of a program that will actually benefit Americans. In America.
Yep - kinda loony.

4. In 2009, America got a new president. |

People need to quit comparing Obama to bush and holding up the bar set by the bushco regime as some sort of standard. Things have changed and if people are going to go the next 3 years saying, "Well bush did it too..." then nothing is going to get done.
All in all, I think it's a good thing when people committing no crime are not arrested. I also think it's good that the media has begun to change too.

5. I've bookmarked your response so that I can remember this |
|
when someone actually does end up taking a shot during one of the town halls ...
yes, things have changed ... we have a President who doesn't believe in a dictatorial fashion of dealing with people who disagree with him, and the media more than happy to highlight all the people who disagree with him without calling them anti-American terrorist lovers (or French) who can't get over that they lost.
