Is Scott Simon a closet conservative? |
|
What's up with Scott Simon?
Is it just me, or does he seem more and more to make veild comments that lean to the right?
This morning, he asked whether North Korea's recent nuclear activity means that "extending the hand of friendship" is "naive".
There have been other examples of late.
Is it just me?

I heard that piece as well, but it didn't especially bother me--I think it's just a journalist doing his job, probing another political analyst a bit.
If by "closet conservative" you mean what I think you mean, which better defined, would be a guy who's on a stealth campaign to discredit the current Administration.
In a broader sense, I've always found NPR news in general to be much more conservative than its rep. How they continue to have Cokie Freeking Roberts on to weigh in on anything is beyond me, for example.

2. It's been well known for years. |
|
During the bush torture regime, he would regularly either avoid or slant any discussion of the crimes being committed. His selection of "guests" as well as his scripts are always designed to portray the right-wing point of view with a patina of legitimacy. (Note: Anyone who includes Juan Williams as a regular feature is carrying water for the bushbots.)

3. Like so many people in the media, he seems terrified of offending the right |
|
so he leans over backwards to be "fair" to them.

4. Simon on Three Mile Island |
|
He bragged that unlike Chernobyl, no one died as a result of Three Mile Island. There apparently are studies that say that there were serious health effects of Three Mile Island, including fatalities.

5. Not sure about Simon . . . |
|
but this morning I heard on NPR a reporter stating that Al Franken would be "stealing" the election. And I thought, how could a reporter say that when Franken actually has more real votes as they have done the recount. I thought it was irresponsible and not very well veiled commentary.
