What the next 2 years will bring...
I believe that we will see Washington come to a stand still, brought to us by the intransigent GOP. The Republican Party will finally prove to the vast majority of the American people that they absolutely hate government so much, that they should not be elected in the future. There will still be those who drink the cool-aid for one reason or another, but after all the shenanigans that the Republicans will pull, we will get to the point the vast majority of Americans (like 65%) will not be voting for a Republican any time soon.

It is going to get so ugly in DC thanks to the new GOP and the Tea Partiers that the majority of Independents will end up voting with the Democratic bloc for many years to come. The Republican Party will loose big in 2012 and become a de-facto regional party, with very few prospects of regaining anything close to a majority at least for a generation, maybe longer.

The Republicans are out to prove that they should never be allowed in positions of power, since they hate government so much and most Americans will oblige by voting against them in the future. The House of Representatives dominated by the rabid righties will be as much fun as watching the Jersey Shore....Boehner in my mind is "the Situation" anyway...

I believe things need to get much worse, with the help of the GOP for Americans to realize what the GOP is really all about. It will be the final wake-up call for those who have yet to wake up to the reality that the GOP is bad for America and the world...it takes more pain to get there, but we will...Polls show Americans want something done about jobs and the economy, but have yet to realize that they made a massive mistake by giving the majority in the House back to the crazy people....Karma is a bitch...

Fasten your seat belts and grad some popcorn...

1. You forget the magic of triangulation
Nothing new here. The "Democrats" will do their standard (post-1992) move further to the right and run again on the "but we suck less than the other guys" DLC mantra.

2. The GOP will promote its agenda, Democrats will work to stop it and will be blamed
by the GOP for nothing getting done. Sure its hypocritical, but if American voters buy it why should Republicans care?

I'm sure Democrats were counting on the economy getting much better in these last 2 years and it has not. If things get much worse in the next 2 years then you can kiss it all goodbye because the Senate is likely to fall in that case with so many Democratic seats to defend and Obama will be clearly blamed if the economy is not much better than it is now and if unemployment is still high.

After the 2008 sweeping election for Democrats I seem to recall an attitude of "Ding, dong, the witch is dead" concerning the GOP and a lot of dancing on its grave because it was so obviously all over for Republicans. It's going to be a mistake if Democratic success is predicated upon an implosion of the Republican party.

Counting on Karma is a fool's errand. When it works its believers are quick to point it out, but when it doesn't work the concept is ignored or explained away. Bad thing routinely happen to good people and the wicked routinely prosper unpunished. Shit happens.

3. I agree with this statement:
"I believe things need to get much worse, with the help of the GOP for Americans to realize what the GOP is really all about."

Where I disagree with you, is, I'm not sure the next two years will be enough. We may have to endure 4 years of someone like Huckabee in the White House before enough people are in enough pain to give a shit about anything other than what's on sale at Walmart & who's on DWTS. Let's just hope to hell there's anything left to salvage.
