From Obama to McCain... Iowa style
I called friends in Des Moines to find out how their house was. It is OK. And then we started talking about other topics and it came to politics. And I was surprised that my friend, a life long Democrat, was hinting about maybe voting for McCain.

The reasons are not important right now. I did ask who was my friend's choice during the caucuses and the reply was... Obama. "How come," I asked. "My son worked for Obama. He brought many friends from California to work for him, friends who traveled at their own expense. In the open Iowa caucus, I could not humiliate my son and not vote for Obama." "Who would have been your choice had the voting were secret," I asked. "Biden" was the answer.

Now, I am not trying to suggest that had the votes were secret that Obama would not have won in Iowa. No, he won it fair and square. But this is just one more example how undemocratic caucuses are, especially the "stand up and be counted" Iowa ones.

2. You may post lies about your interactions with friends
I do not.

How sad that you project your behavior on others.

3. You left out the part where you convinced your 'friend' to vote Obama

And take your caucus gripe up with your local Dems, because it's their decision after all. One that Iowa has not only supported but embraced for years.

5. I did. Mentioned the Supreme Court
As I said, my friend was just "thinking loud" and we still have five more months.

4. couldn't he just have stayed home.
Pretty gutless not to stand up for Biden, I'd say. I know many families that were split, even with their kids working for a candidate.

6. How could someone who was for Biden possibly justify
voting for McCain?

7. I don't know. Looking for maturity and experience
knowing what that person stands for as opposed to an unknown star who came from nowhere?
