Pundits declare the race over
Source: iht

Speaking on CNN, David Gergen, a former adviser to several presidents, including Clinton's husband, said, "I think the Clinton people know the game is almost up."

Stating it more bluntly, Bob Franken, the political analyst, told the MSNBC host Dan Abrams shortly after 2 a.m. Eastern time, "Let's put it right on the table: It's over. It's over."

And it picked up again on the major morning news programs in a devastating cascade of sound bites for Clinton and her campaign.

Bob Schieffer on the CBS News program "Early Show": "Basically, Maggie, this race is over."

George Stephanopoulos on the ABC program "Good Morning America": "This nomination fight is over."

Matt Lauer on the NBC News program " Today": "Good morning, is it over?"

The commentary was punctuated by some brutal morning newspaper headlines: "Toast!" blared The New York Post; "Hil Needs a Miracle" declared The New York Daily News.

2. It's over, but at great cost.
Many Clinton supporters have a great of animosity towards Obama, not so much because of him but because of some of the things that have come out of his supporters. If we're going to win in November, those divisions must be healed. Those who say "screw Hillary supporters" do not have the party's best interest at heart, and will help assure a McCain win in November.

4. Like what kind of things
"that have come out of his supporters."? What supporters?

You are right. The divisions must be healed. So when is the divisive candidate going to begin the healing process?

5. That's pretty one-sided
Most of those ABC polls show that it is Hillary who has run the more negative, divisive campaign. If Obama supporters are venting their frustration by reacting against the dirty poliTRICKS, aren't they justified in doing so?

Has Obama been on the offensive or defensive most of the time? I'd say that he's been squarely on the defense, much to many of his supporters chagrin.

6. WTF?:
"Clinton supporters have a great of animosity towards (sic) Obama, not so much because of him but because of some of the things that have come out of his supporters."

Clinton supporters have animosity toward Obama because of things that other people who "say" they support Obama say?? This is Rev Wright all over again. Anyone can say anything about anyone. Make it true??

8. Some people may see it as a fight between supporters
but most of the commentary I have read , and heard, is saying screw you to Bill and Hillary Clinton, not to their supporters. If you want to make the losing candidate a fight between supporters, that really is irrelevant. Someone is going to lose, and in this case, it is Hillary and Bill Clinton. It is not personal. It is a recognition of what a poor candidate Hillary Clinton really is. And I think it continues on with her absurd stubborn refusal to admit defeat and to do more damage to her own party because of her personal inability to admit a mistake or a failure.

9. "...because of some of the things that have come out of his supporters.
Right, because god knows that both Obama and Clinton should be held responsible for every word or action by any one of their millions of supporters against their opponent. Evidently Senator Clinton is a better Democrat than many of her supporters in saying that she will support and work for the nominee (now who could that be?) because the alternative would be President McCain.

11. I don't buy it!
I don't buy the claims of Hillary supporters that they won't vote for Obama. They're just angry right now. Obama will win them over. There is no greater way to disrespect the causes for which Hillary has fought her whole career for than to vote for McCain over Obama. This point will be made crystal clear as the general election campaign develops.

10. Reported today on radio; depends on how losers lose as to whether
election for Pres will be won

My recommendation - give her whatever other office she wants
and give Bill the gate ... talk about divisiveness
