Watching the Iraq Hearings With Petraeus and Crocker

Senator Clinton has stated her position on the Iraq war many, many times on the campaign trail, but she did so one more time for General Petraeus:
"I think it’s time to begin an orderly process of withdrawing our troops, start rebuilding our military, and focusing on the challenges posed by Afghanistan, the global terrorist groups and other problems that confront Americans."
A lengthy statement followed, culminating in a question about Iraqi ratification of the security agreement with the United States. Another query focused on the American military’s involvement in Basra now that Britain has reduced its role there.
Her six minutes ended without any fireworks, and the hearing seemed to end as well — at least for many people in the room. Mr. Myers, covering the event for The New York Times, witnessed a significant exodus of journalists and the larger audience after Mrs. Clinton’s turn at bat, and the cable news outlets all cut away to other subjects.
Even trusty C-SPAN was sending viewers scrambling from one of its channels to another to follow the hearing, and wound up leaving viewers in the dark during Ms. Clinton’s highly anticipated moment with the general. “Help!,” one Washington blogger cried....
