I once had a beer with an Australian cowboy in a Russian restaurant in Calgary. |
|
He just leaned over and asked me for directions. I didn't know the Deerfoot from the Crowchild I said,I too was passing through,so we shared a beer. He was off to a work on a ranch. His hand was like treebark when we shook and went our separate ways.

The bar was Matilda's Revenge. I'd never met the guys before, but as soon as they started to talk I knew they were from Alabama.

8. I was once in a Chinese restaurant in Athens, Greece... |
|
With my friends who're from Birmingham, England, but are African-Caribbean and play Reggae. 7 of them were Second-Generation Jamaican, one was from St Kitts-Nevis, and then there were 2 Greek women, my very good Irish-American friend and me: the Ashkenazi Jewish girl. The Owner was a woman from Shanghai who married a Greek bloke and she performed a Zorba cum Fan Dance for us at the end of the meal.
Truly cultural fusion overload.
