I'm SUCH geezer. We got a Sharper Image catalogue in the mail.
I thumbed through it.
And I realized I didn't know what half of the gadgets were for or what they were supposed to do.
The ad copy was no help.

I know an mp3 player has something to do with downloading music from...somewhere. But I don't need music as a constant companion wherever I go.

There were all manner of gizmos guaranteed to make my life happier, easier, less stressful, etc., etc.
But I don't know what they actually do.

I've been left behind by the technology age.
Ah well...
(I guess I'm channeling Andy Rooney again. I seem to do that a lot now.)

1. A little help for you.
Everything in the Sharper Image catalog is for people who have more dollars than sense, but worry about the image they are projecting.

Anything truly useful there can be found at a better price some where else.

2. Well, I wasn't planning to buy anything.
It just struck me how far behind I am.

3. It isn't that you're behind.
It's that you don't worry the image you present to the world may some how be inadequate. If you *did* worry about your image, you'd be fully aware of what's in the catalog.

4. I can't say for sure, but it also may be really horrible communication skills
on the part of the writer of the catalogue. I've been noticing this myself lately, that some websites that feature innovative things will often have simply atrocious writing skills such that I literally, like you, cannot figure out what the object is supposed to do or what is novel about it.

I don't think it is us.
