Of course you can answer them on any day, since Sunday is just the day I started the topic.

3. Hi MVD
Great to see you and glad you've started these questions again:hi: Hope you're well

1. What is your favorite holiday or event day? By event day, I mean days that aren't holidays but are still special days - like Halloween or Valentine's Day. -Probably Christmas with Easter a close second

2. What material things are you asking for for Christmas (we all want peace, Democratic strength, etc.)? Haven't decided -probably a few books

3. What book(s) have you re-read the most? "My Turn" by Nancy Reagan (don't ask -this was when I was much younger and much more conservative). There have been others but they don't come to mind of late

4. Have you ever had a nightmarish Christmas? If you have, briefly say what happened. Yes, 2007. The Christmas after my mother died (and she loved Christmas). My sister and her husband were overseas, I developed food poisoning on Christmas Eve and therefore was unable to go to the Christmas party we were invited to so I was left home alone, depressed, sick, miserable and listening to the Christmas party next door and wishing I could join in the fun. And missing my mother of course

5. Randomly name up to 10 of your favorite music artists. The Carpenters, the Dubliners, Don McLean, Greg Doolan, Michael Jackson, Queen, Buddy Holly, Savage Garden, The Seekers, Steps

:hi:

22. i realized tonight how much i enjoy the lights
there had been some uncertainty about whether there'd be funding to have the lights in our old town district. i really didn't care at the time, but i drove through old town tonight and remembered just how pretty they are.

i asked my husband if he'd drive me around to look at the lights. he said yes :)

8. Sunday Answers.
1.) New Year's Eve. Or Halloween. Maybe St. Patrick's Day. I like my social-drinking and debauchery holidays. I'm not so keen on the traditional ones though, I don't really enjoy my family.

2.) I want a bike. I'm getting cash. I hate money-gifts. I really always have, I'd rather get nothing. I look on gift-cards as slightly better as long as they're not generic like Target or those use-anywhere Visa cards. If you're giving me a gift, put some thought into it, goddamnnit...or I'd rather you just didn't give me a gift. It's the thought demonstrated by the gift that is important to me, not the gift.

3.) I don't re-read books ever.

4.) All of them until age twelve. My parents had this insane need to do Christmas on Christmas with both sets of grandparents, one of whom lived in Litchfield, CT and the other in Jacksonville, FL. The absolute last thing any 8 year old wants is to get in the car immediately after opening their gifts and drive 22 hours straight with parents who actively loathe each other. In addition to this, I don't recall a time when I didn't detest all of my FL relatives...except one uncle who was my aunt's second husband who she cheated on and left. His daughters were nice, the biological relatives were fundy assholes.

5.) The Decemberists, Metric, The Blue Van, Lykke Li, Mumford & Sons, Jets to Brazil, Kate McGill, Man Man, Bloc Party, Silversun Pickups,The Black Keys. Listening to Analog Rebellion, I love it but I'd have to see if it's still on my playlist in four months before I can say it's a favorite.

9. Okey Dokey, here are my answers:
1. What is your favorite holiday or event day? By event day, I mean days that aren't holidays but are still special days - like Halloween or Valentine's Day.

Easter -- I love spring. I love the concept of rebirth and renewal. I'm not particularly religious, but hey, I enjoyed 'Jesus Christ Superstar' (the British revival version that was updated).

2. What material things are you asking for for Christmas (we all want peace, Democratic strength, etc.)?

None at all. We have all of the material things we need in my household. I guess I could use some new socks, but that's about as big as it gets.

3. What book(s) have you re-read the most?

Children of the Arbat by Anatoli Rybakov -- It's been in my car for several years in the glove box. If I have to wait somewhere, such as for an appointment or at the repair shop, I pull it out and reread sections of it.

4. Have you ever had a nightmarish Christmas? If you have, briefly say what happened.

Yes, I have. Family strife left me not wanting to stay at home. I was talked into and very reluctantly accepted an invitation to go to N. Michigan to a friend's relative's house. It was uncomfortable, unhappy, and on top of it, the roads were really treacherous on the way home.

5. Randomly name up to 10 of your favorite music artists.

U2, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Genesis, Carly Simon, Aretha Franklin, Duran Duran, Counting Crows, The Beatles, Bon Jovi.

10. FWIW
1. Toss-up... New Years Eve (so long as I don't have to work on New Years Day and I have) - Super Bowl Sunday (I find that even non-football fans can have fun at Super Bowl Parties).

2. Traxxas Slash 4X4 Ultimate

3. The Stand

4. Another toss-up... Two yeas ago, my Best Friend's Mom died. I grew up having eggs n chorizo with homemade tortillas on Sundays in her kitchen. When I was young, my cousin didn't get the doll she wanted and threw a fit which included her trying to stomp the toys and things the rest of us cousins got. TOTALLY ruined the mood for the whole day.

5. Zeppelin - The Black Keys - Floyd - B.B. King - Stevie Ray - Kansas - Janis - Allman Bros. - The Cult - Queensryche - Skynyrd - The Muggs - Ratatat (I think that's the longest band name you can type with one hand LOL.)

1. Favorite holiday or event day - I don't like the holidays anymore because we have to spend them all with my inlaws. They aren't bad people, it's just not ... eh, relaxing or enjoyable for me. Sometimes I'm sad thinking I'll never really enjoy a holiday again. SO ... my favorite event day is Saturdays because I can sleep in and I don't have obligations. :)

2. For Christmas? - A swiss ball for doing fancy situps.

3. What book(s) have you re-read the most? Herman Hesse - Narcissus and Goldmund.
