What is for dinner next week? For me I plan to make salami sandwiches

with strubs dill pickles, hellman's mayonaise and old cheddar cheese like my parents used to make for us at the cottage when we were kids. I'm hoping going down memory lane will please my parents.

I just got some good deli salami and pepperoni too so I imagine that will be up for me as well next week.


But as for a memory lane sandwich, I think I need to find some summer sausage. I have been trying to recreate for 30something years one of the best sandwiches I ever had - it must have been good because I remember it so well. It was chunks (not slices) of summer sausage with lettuce and mustard on a soft sub roll and a pint of chocolate milk.

It seems so simple but I just can't get the flavor now to match what's in my head then.

Maybe I'm looking back through rose colored taste buds.
