The universe decided I was to have no internet on Thanksgiving. I am thankful. |
|
Don't know what happened. NOTHING would load. Perhaps holiday overload. I couldn't look up any of those recipes I needed, couldn't check FB or DU, couldn't click on news links.
You know, it was kind of nice. I got creative with the food and it wasn't a disaster, and I had no idea for once who was mad at whom and who was being snarky and what political folk were outraged at the latest thing other political folk were doing. We played Monkey Island, which we hadn't done since the sons were teeny, and the puzzles and jokes were still fun.
I'm thinking I need to back way off my media. Do I really need to know what HuffPo thinkst two or three times a day? Do I need to follow the bitchfest that is GD?
I don't mean this as a blanket condemnation of the internet; it's a big and vitalizing part of my life when I do it well. But that cortisol-inducing, exercise-killing, relationship limiting part of it just might, in fact, be bad for my health.
Is this the wrong place to say such things? Seriously, do the rest of you guys feel the push-pull of the thing?

3. No, "kind of nice" is a 24/7 broadband Internet connection |
|
Seriously, I am an addict. I have to make a deliberate attempt to pull myself away. When I have to go out for a client appointment and know that I have to leave at, as an example, 9:30...I step away from the INTERNETS around 9:29 and 30 seconds.

5. I had to read the title wrong the first time. |
|
I read "The universe decided I was to have no INTEREST in Thanksgiving. I am thankful."
And I clicked on this wondering what the heck could have happened to cause you not to celebrate. I know gazing into the computer as a past time is allowing me to some things I don't like about reality right now. Is it a drug, is it a diversion, is it an excuse?
I am allowing myself to over do it over the holiday season as I don't want to "do" any holidays but it is so true that it can be a bad habit that has to get put on a shelf sometimes.
Dang it, now you're making me think about it..... thanks alot ~~! ; )

6. Yes, I do at times. Because of me, not it. Not wrong to say so. Good description of the cons. |
