(11,489 posts)This country has careened so far to the right, that common sense from the 1970's is now radical. Nixon proposed a national health care plan in 1974. NIXON for Pete's sake. https://khn.org/news/nixon-proposal
Now, on a website that ostensibly is left-wing, even suggesting single-payer is frequently derided as a utopian fantasy, despite every other advanced country in the world showing how it can be done in any number of different ways.
Who here loves their health insurance? I HATE mine. It costs thousands of dollars in premiums, and has a $3,000 deductible before you get reimbursed for anything. I have 2 co-workers in my 10 person office who have had claims rejected, one for a procedure which was PRE-APPROVED by the insurance company (eventually they paid after MONTHS of denying it) and another who has spent over a year fighting his denial of coverage when he had emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction, and 2 of the surgeons involved weren't in his health care plan. EMERGENCY SURGERY. Like he was supposed to be calling around making sure everyone in the OR was on his provider list when he's unconscious.
And then there are hospitals, who charge $50 for a $.05 aspirin, or who charge $1000 for a procedure if you have a particular brand of insurance, but $10,000 if you have NO insurance. And drug companies, who arrange deals with health insurers to overcharge their customers for drugs, then give kickbacks to the insurers, unbeknownst to the patient. Or who charge Americans 10 times more for insulin than Canadians pay,
A two-party system where BOTH parties get most of their funding from corporations is a recipe for disaster, and for the last 30+ years, it's what we've had. This ain't my first rodeo either, but frankly, I'm tired of rodeos where both candidates decry socialism with equal vigor, despite the fact that the two most popular government programs in America, Social Security and Medicare, are socialist.
Trump is an unstable idiot. Dumbest and most incompetent person ever to inhabit the White House. His personality is basically a combination of a drunken frat boy with a spoiled rotten middle school girl. He's a friend to dictators and a enemy of democracies. He wants to help the rich at the expense of the poor. He bans people fleeing oppression from immigrating to American and helps corrupts plutocrats buy their way in. Anyone who would even THINK of not voting for Sanders or Warren if they are the eventual nominee, frankly doesn't have America's best interests at heart.

primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
