“The electorate... vote[s] against their own self-interests...”

I call them the IOA, the Idiots of America.

You get the government you deserve.

We the people have the power to seat a progressive, forward-looking, fair and egalitarian government. But we’re made up of geniuses who say things like, “Obama’s a Muslim, right?” and “He’s gay?! I want to take my vote back!”

Unfortunately, doing so would be manipulated to disenfranchise too many people. But sometimes I think people should have to pass a basic test on government and current events in order to vote. Too many members of the IOA make it into the voting booth. If only we could weed them out. We just might eliminate or at least significantly reverse the voting against one’s own self interests syndrome.
