Sharing great news from a friend (and fellow DUer) [View all]
Actually, I don't think she's been to DU in a long time -- but I met her via DU. This is such a cool story that warms my heart that I'm sharing anyway.
Her beloved rescue pup, Benny, somehow got out of the yard nearly four, maybe five months ago. She went into FULL-SCALE search, enlisting people throughout the small city to post flyers and try to find him in various ways. No luck. She stayed vigilant in the search for three solid months. I could tell she started to lose hope in the last month and started to fall into depression. I didn't blame her; it was heartbreaking. She and Benny lived alone...she had never had a pet (or at least not in a long, long, LONG time) and never expected to bond as she did, but she realized how much she adored her Benny and missed him desperately.
Then Tuesday morning, while sitting in the dentist chair, she received a call, that someone had found Benny. A stranger -- no doubt one of many over the intervening months -- found him, saw he had a collar (wasn't chipped but is now), and called my friend.
Long story short, Benny is fine and DELIGHTED to be back with my friend!!!!! He hasn't missed a beat. He does everything as he did before.
Yay!!!!
