but what's common is a rhetoric you can hear on DU and Twitter and Tumblr--that who/what you are isn't just important, but the primary determinant of your politics, economics, etc.; race and gender aren't constantly-negotiated dimensions to life but a permanent label--or brand, perhaps

therefore Clinton can be "the minority candidate" because she's female while setting up regimes and starting wars that kill plenty of women and POC and gays, and how she can specifically be "the Black candidate" despite the welfare reform and parties with redliners and war and neoliberalism and CCA and the "all lives matter"

that's why they can say "Sanders has a race problem" without pointing to any of his policies or his opponents' (and of course if you demur that's just magically proving their point you lefty white supremacist!)
