(104,910 posts)and other corporations that benefit from government contracts for the immense spying infrastructure - both personnel, like BAH, and equipment - hoovering up the nation's metadata, and storing the data sent on the major cables, takes a lot of hardware - hence the massive Utah data center.
Current Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, was previously a VP of Booz Allen Hamilton
Previous Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, was a Senior VP with BAH before being DNI, and is now their vice-chairman.
Previous Director of the NSA, Director of the CIA and Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, Michael Hayden, now works for the Chertoff Group, headed by the former Secretary of Homeland Security, a security consulting company.
Look at how the Amash-Conyers amendment to defund the metadata collection was a danger to them. Corporations are swimming in money because of the spying, and they can't have that stopped.
