The FBI director does not answer to the President but to the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence. Certainly President Obama can pressure the AG to stop the situation but then it will look like President Obama is trying to directly influence the election through the use of his office and would create another problem.

Be assured that backdoor people are working on this situation but to come straight out and interfere with the FBI would not be a good thing to do right now.
