The Fibonacci numbers show up in all sorts of places. Nature seems to love itself the golden ratio too.

It's also interesting that the golden ratio (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio) also turns out to be the number that is the furthest away from approximation by the division of two integers (such as Pi = 22/7, etc.)
