5. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there massive amounts of fossil-fuel-based inputs involved

in the massive-scale agriculture we need to sustain 6B+ mouths on this planet?

IIRC, these are natural gas for fertilizers and petroleum for insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides, right?

Leaving aside the fuel for all the large machines that are involved in farming on this scale, which, if I read you correctly, could be supplanted by creating some ether-based fuel using nuclear power (still unclear on how that works, but whatever) ... what other readily available options are there besides fossil fuels to provide the needed fertilizers and ... poisons ... that we need to produce so MUCH food i.e. available at the scale necessary?
