2. When I was in college, a million years ago, I had to read The Brothers Karamazov.

I didn't get it at all, except that it left me very disturbed and feeling very unclear and unsettled. This article is an excellent re-introduction to this classic work on Good and Evil. Which I think is very timely, at least for me.

For the first time in my life I have realized that true evil exists and that many, many people are evil. It was one thing when it was people from another country and another time (Nazi Germany), but now I've realized that I'm living amongst people that are just as bad. And I still don't understand, but I do finally acknowledge that true evil exists and that an ordinary person just down the street can actually be evil.
