Hard to imagine slavery surviving as long as it did without biblical support and regulation. Meanwhile at least Jefferson experienced cognitive dissonance about slavery. There’s no indication anyone in the bible did. Jesus had not one bad word to say about it, even sexual slavery. The same goes for pederasty. Both were extremely common in the first century, even by rabbis.
